Besides the zip pouches (here and here), the only other thing I finished this week was this dress.
While I was taking pictures, the dog couldn't contain her curiousity and showed up to investigate.
Since I've already shared the pouches, let me talk about the dress for a minute.
This is the Back to School Dress from Chic & Simple Sewing by Christine Haynes.

The weekend of the 19th was the Fall book sale held by Friends of the Multnomah County Library, so I picked up some craft books, and this was one of them.

There are a few other things I might make from this book with some alterations, but this dress was the main reason I grabbed this book.
It's relatively shapeless, but I love it anyway. It is also very comfortable, and you can just pull it over your head. Easy dressing and easy sewing! Haha...I have to be lazy in some places of my life in order to get things done in others.
My dress is made from a light weight denim. A few years back, Fabric Depot had a very good deal on a variety of denim fabrics, so I have about 8 yards of this dark, cross-hatch denim. It was an excellent price and I knew someday it would come in handy for something.
The denim did make the gathers challenging, but I got them done! Other than that, this dress was simple to sew. If I make it again, I'll use a fabric with more drape, and possibly line it--depending on the fabric.
