Hello Sewing Friends: If you have the Rose Pincushion Cuff pattern and want to make a cuff with a different flower, here's a pattern mod for you!
If you don't have this pattern, it's available at either link below:
The first step is to download these two circles (5" diameter & 2"diameter):
Download Circles
Cut a 5" circle for the flower from a piece of quilting cotton backed by muslin. Make sure the grain of the muslin and your fabric are aligned in pretty much the same direction.
Using the longest stitch available on your machine, baste around the edge of the circle about 1/8" from the edge.
Gently pull the threads to gather the circle into a ball, but don't close it up all the way--leave an opening about 1" in diameter and then add in your preferred stuffing. You can pack it full, medium, or light. I'm in a mid-range stuffer, but you can stuff it as you see fit.
Cut a piece of wool or felt from the 2" circle. You can also freehand cut this piece--you're the only one who is going to see it and you're only going to see it once so it can be kinda messy.
Patch over the hole with the felt. No need to be neat here either since it will be on the bottom.
Then use heavy thread to divide it into three sections (or however many you want). Use nylon beading thread is size D or above, polyester upholstery thread, 3-6 strands of embroidery floss, or some other type of heavy duty thread.
Make a cuff and leaves using the instructions and pieces in the pattern, stitch the flower on, and then add a cute button to the center. All done!
P.S. There are two of these cuffs available in my etsy shop. The pink one in the photos in this post can be found right here and then there is another here.
