Kitten Bouquets Zipper Pouch

This fabric really is so very cute.  This is the second zipper pouch I've made using this Japanese cotton/linen blend fabric and both turned out adorable.  The first one is sold but the one pictured here is available.

Some of Tilda's Gracie print fabric arrived in my mailbox the other day and it is BEAUTIFUL!  So, so pretty...I'm in love.

The Gracie print is my favorite but there are others in the Creating Memories collection I also wouldn't mind having in my fabric stash. Check them out here.

The images here are good representations. If you aren't already aware of this, a lot of the images for fabric are provided from the proofs for printing so the fabric is going to look slightly different.

Online fabric shops use these because: a. they are available from the manufacturer, b. it's challenging to get good photos, and c. if you do put in the effort to get a good photo, some other seller will steal it and use it in their store. So just like the color might be slightly different than what you see, the print may not be exactly as shown. To not find this frustrating, learn to accept that this is the reality of shopping online.  

I ordered the blue (of course) and the green.  It's so pretty that I think I'm also going to get the ginger and yellow versions.  

You might notice there are a few shops represented in the collection that have this fabric on sale today. I'm probably going to get some of the ginger and maybe more of the blue while I can find it on sale. This fabric (and really most of it these days) begins at $14+ per yard and I don't really see the Tilda quilting cottons on sale all that often.   

The Cutest Japanese Cat Fabric Ever

On one of my deep dives into what's available for cotton/linen blend print fabrics on etsy, this adorable fabric caught my eye. It literally cannot get any cuter than this if you are a cat person!  

When I find something totally spectacular, my next step is to take a look around on etsy and then at other places online to see how widely available it is so I don't miss out on it if it's hard to find.  

For this fabric, it's not that easy to find but I rounded up a few places it can be found as of today:

• On etsy it is available from one shop in mint, blue, or pink. 
• Picking Daisies (USA) has it in mint.
• Threads & Ewe (USA) has it in mint and rust.
• The Sewing Stable (AU) has it in blue.

For the Grocery Bag pictured at the top, I used this striped Essex fabric for the lining and it is perfect with the mint colorway!  So, so cute...

 

 

New Patchwork Coaster

The Patchwork Coasters pattern will be making a come-back soon! It was retired because I stopped doing one step (grading the seam - step 5.d) so the pattern needed new photos and a major update. It takes a huge amount of time to take all new photos, edit them, and put the pattern back together so that is usually the sign it's time for a pattern to be retired.

But I can't stop making these and each time I do people want the pattern, so I'm redoing it and it will be available again soon.

In the meantime, here is another bright, cheerful and so very spring coaster for inspiration or to purchase.

The fabrics I used for this one are:

Bee Mine by Liz Mytinger for Paintbrush Studio - I have made many coasters with this bee print! The bees are nicely spaced for fussy cutting and bees are the perfect starter piece to accompany a mix of floral prints.

Rhapsody by Sedef Imer for Riley Blake - Flowers, flowers, flowers...I can't get enough of them and this bouquet print has been a favorite.  It's another great one for fussy cutting and each little sprig has multiple colors that work really well with my quilting cotton stash.

Sunshine Inn by Lysa Flower for PBS Fabrics - This is such a fun, groovy vibe print.  The colors scream 1970s and the variety of colors make it perfect for patchwork. 

Flower Patch from Michael Miller - This tiny print floral fabric has really served me well for patchwork. I'd love to have more of this one.  The blue seems to be gone now, but green and orange are still available (probably not for long - there are only a few listings on etsy).

Housecoat in Sunshine from Homestead by April Rosenthal for Moda Fabrics - I obviously have a thing for April Rosenthal fabrics and have several in my fabric collection. This yellow gingham and floral print also shows up a lot in my patchwork. 

Lily of the Valley from Michael Miller - This fabric is just lovely and the widely spaced floral elements give it a more calm feel than the super packed prints that I tend to collect.

You might have already noticed this but some of the Japanese fabrics are so funny! Some of the prints are so quirky and hilarious in a very special way.

This Party Cats fabric is a fine example. I adore this fabric and if I had a great idea for it and some room in my budget and sewing room, I would make this fabric mine so fast!  But I don't have those things right now but maybe you do??? If so, go get it!

Boxes and Cats Japanese Fabric

The etsy shop that stocks this fabric, Tuxedo Neko Textiles, also has a bunch of other delightful cat theme fabrics.

Some are cute and some are both cute and funny. The Party Cats is my favorite in the funny category--especially the cat with the pink afro wig flashing the hang loose sign--but the banana cats and the cats in boxes print are also tickling my funny bone.

Bohin Baby Pink Pins

Bohin pins in Baby Pink are back in stock. These are a light pink color that reminds me of pink stucco.  

Stick and Stitch Flowers

These are new and are 1" in diameter flowers on Fabri-Solvy water soluble paper. Stitch them on a cardigan, t-shirt, jeans, bags, etc.  They are cute embellishments and can also be used to cover small stains, holes, or bleach spots.  

Blue Fabric Pieces

Blue patchwork is one of my all time favorite things to make. It always turns out amazing and using a blue theme keeps it simple while also taming the "do these fabrics go together????" anxious thoughts.
