Some cute cat fabric arrived in my mailbox recently and as soon as it was laundered and pressed, I got to work and made a couple things!
The first is the Basket Bag above. This is the size of the black canvas one in this post.
If you want to make a divided Basket Bag like this one, cut the top piece 5.75" high x 16" wide and the bottom piece 5" high x 16" wide and sew them together with a 3/8" SA.
Then I've been wanting to make a chopstick roll for a friend, and when this fabric arrived, I knew it was time.
At first, I was going to make a pouch just big enough for the chopsticks, but then I saw a fabric place mat with a utensil pocket and realized if I made it bigger it could hold the chopsticks, and also act as a fabric napkin/place mat.
If you want to make one of these, the finished measurements are:
- napkin - 15" x 15"
- pocket - 6.25" x 1.75"
- tie - 10" x 5/8"
Ok, back to this fabric. This print is from the Stitch Cats collection by Nancy Nicholson for Clothworks.
The nice thing about this fabric--besides the cats--is it has a lot of colors! There are multiple shades of several colors, which just makes life easier as far as matching and then gives lots of possibilities for patchwork.
This fabric comes in the four colorways shown below. I have the red one and it's more of a wine red than the graphic. The images are likely the graphics used to print the fabric and not the actual fabric, so the colors will be somewhat different in real life.
