It's Strawberry Fabric (and Grocery Bag) Season

Here are my two most recent grocery bags and though it wasn't planned, they both ended up made from two super sweet strawberry prints.

This is the medium size and the fabric is from the Yours Truly collection by Kim Kight for Cotton + Steel:

This one was a gift and I was proud of myself for getting it done in time to get photos. I'm a last minute gift maker and there have been a few things sewn right down to the wire and then there's no time to get pictures. But not this time!

There's also one fat eighth of this print here in my etsy shop. It's not enough to make a grocery bag, but enough for some patchwork, buttons, or a pouch of some sort.

This large one is made from a light weight cotton canvas from Kokka:

Look at those grouchy kitties! They look like they are protecting the strawberries from the birds and taking their job quite seriously. Two One of these bags are is available in my etsy shop here.

Kokka doesn't name their fabrics as far as I know, which makes it harder to reference them (you listening, Kokka?), but this print comes in a few colorways and can be found on etsy at these links:

There are also quite a few other strawberry print fabrics on my food and kitchen fabric pinterest board.

Windham Daisy Ring

There is one more fat eighth of this print by Whistler Studios for Windham Fabrics available in the fabric section of my etsy shop. This fabric has a pretty lilac background. It's an unusual color I don't notice being used often in the quilting cotton world.

Spring Bouquet Coin Purse

Here's another coin purse in a sweet floral print called Spring Bouquet. This fabric is from a collection called Spring-a-ling by American Jane for Moda.

The coin purses are made by reducing the size 1 pattern pieces from the Card Wallets pattern to 85% and using a size 24 long-prong red snap from Snap Source.

Fix Your Clothes Zine + Mending Kit

It's been a while since I've sewn one of these Mending Kits, but inspiration came calling because more of these zines turned up and this pouch is perfect for this small book! Fix Your Clothes is something I've carried off and on, but they've been sold out in my shop for quite some time.

Then someone asked if I could get more and off I went to order them. But time has passed the next edition has come out and the cover has changed. The new cover is nice, but I felt attached to the original blue floral one.

So I asked the publisher about the original cover, and at first they thought they were sold out, but about a week later I got the message they had tracked down a handful of copies in the blue cover!

You can read about the Mending Kit pattern here (it's basically a scaled down version of the Idea Pouch).

I also wanted to point out that this pouch is good for a crochet hook case and I know a lot of the crocheters out there use tablets to carry their patterns around. Here it's shown with an iPad Mini, but if you want to use it with something this same size (5.25" x 7.9") use a button closure like the one here or move the VELCRO on the bottom up. It needs just a bit more room for the flap to fold down and the button closure makes it more flexible with the dimensions.

P.S. This cat fabric is something from Kokka. I don't know the name of it, but there's one fat eighth of it available in my etsy shop here, or you can order yardage here. The wood buttons are from Dill.

More Fat Eighths

I've been out fabric collecting again. It really is a collection since it's useful for many decades and some will continue to have value in the future as vintage. As long as the collection stays under control and sort of neat, it's all good!

As part of my effort to "keep it under control" some of my fabric collection can be found in the fabric section of my etsy shop. They are mostly fat eighths, so not large pieces, but they are nice for stash building for patchwork and other small projects.

They are also laundered! Wouldn't it be heavenly to be able to buy all your fabric washed and pressed and ready to go? I'd die of happiness. Washing it isn't my favorite task mostly because it tests my patience! I wait until there is a small load of similar colors, which sometimes takes weeks or even months.
