Zip Pocket Pouch Wristlet

Today's sewing project was a Zip Pocket Pouch Wristlet and one of the main points was to use up some scraps! Which I did...

Making the patchwork Grocery Bag from yesterday's post used up some scraps, but also created some new smaller scraps, so I used them to make patchwork lining for piece D.

Another Pink and Black Patchwork Bag

The first patchwork bag in pink and black turned out so nice, I had to make a second one.

This is the medium size from the Grocery Bag pattern, and the finished bag is available in my etsy shop here.

Scrap Bag

A new scrap bag is available in my etsy shop today.  There is also one more bag here.

I took some photos of a few pairings of prints included in today's bag. These pairing pictures are ones I frequently post on IG, and today I'll share them here too. 

The bird print is from Cosmo Textiles and is from at least 6 or 7 years ago.  I bought it at Reprodepot.com, and they've been out of business for many years now.  I'm not sure what the blue fabric is, but think it's probably Riley Blake circa 2010ish. 

The black floral is called Sweet Garden and the crosshatch/polka dot is from Timeless Treasures. 

This chicken print is very special.  It's from Daisy Kingdom circa 2002, or so. The Daisy Kingdom store here in Portland closed in 2004, but I tucked away some of this print, which I call "the best chicken print ever".

The floral here is called Brady Bunch from Michael Miller and the stripe is from Fancy Free by Lori Whitlock for Riley Blake.  

The black floral here is called Ava from Michael Miller and the polka dots are from Moda's Dottie collection.

 

Black and Pink Patchwork Grocery Bag

Yesterday I finished up this pink and black patchwork bag.

This one is another medium size made using the Grocery Bag pattern. 

So far, I've only made these patchwork ones in the medium size.  Maybe I'll make some in the small sometime, but I'm not sure I'll ever make the large one in patchwork.  I can't really say why particularly, other than I'm just not interested.

Here is what I remember about the print fabrics:

• Black dot and crosshatch: something from Timeless Treasures
• Small pink and red roses: Ava from Michael Miller
• Larger rose print: Sweet Garden from Fabric-Quilt
• Pink polka dots: Robert Kaufman Pimatex Basics & Dottie from Moda
• Black and white stripe: something from Quilting Treasures
• Black and grey polka dot: something from Lakehouse Dry Goods
• Green polka dots: Amy Butler Full Moon Dots in Lime

The reverse side is black ticking from James Thompson.  I purchased mine at Fabric Depot in the store and I bought the rest of the bolt, but you could always contact them to see if they have more. 

The black stripes in this fabric are more of a charcoal than a saturated black, and while I kind of wish they were more black I do like this fabric because it is a nice utility weight and it washes well. 

 

 

 

 

 

New Quilt Binding

When I go to the fabric store, if there's time to browse I almost always look for prints that will work well for binding.

Most of them are have too large a print, but this one from the Woodland Spring collection from Riley Blake was just right for making into quilt binding. This binding is sold out, but you can view more quilt binding in this section.
