Made - Zip Clutch

The main body of was made with the medium pattern piece from the Zip Pouches pattern.  The floral fabric is Child's Smile from Lecien.

The lining is a print from Moda's Chrysalis collection.

Inside I added patch pocket no.1.

Made - Grey Skirt with Pink Topstitching

Yesterday I finished the grey canvas skirt I started sewing over the weekend.  The finished skirt is available here, or make your own with the pattern.

Like this denim version of this skirt, this one also has the big pink polka dots inside. 

This is one of the projects I used the heavy Jeans Stitch thread for topstitching.  I sew each row of topstitching individually, but I'm going to look for a large double needle. It's a few tense minutes trying to sew them both as neatly as possible!

Pink serger thread was also used to finish the seams. 

Thread Comparison

I'm making a skirt and a messenger bag using grey canvas and adding some color with topstitching using hot pink Jeans Stitch thread so the TS really shows. I thought you might like to see the dramatic difference between this Jeans Stitch thread and all-purpose thread.  It's pretty amazing! 

Here are tips for using this heavy thread:

• use a size 100/16 topstitch machine needle - these needles say "topstitch" across the front
• use all-purpose thread in the bobbin
• lengthen your stitch to 3.5+
• turn on "needle down" if your machine has the option

Made - Zip Pocket Pouch

This is one of these, but not really a size in the pattern.  It's closest to the small size.  It started out bigger, but I was a little sleepy on Saturday when I was sewing it, and made a mistake.  So it had to be cut down.  The flap is shorter than the small one in the pattern and the body isn't as wide as the small.  

It turned out sweet in these fabrics, so I was happy it worked out in the end.  I was concerned the flap was going to be too wide and wouldn't fit between the curved corners, but it was fine. 

The floral fabric is a mystery print and the blue fabric is an organic chambray from Fabric Depot.
