This one is made from a print called Sweet Garden by FabriQuilt.  It's one of the first ones I made, so the pleated pocket is shorter than the one in the pattern.

Medium Zip Pocket Pouch

Zip Pocket Pouch

I finished this up yesterday and it's now available in my etsy shop. 

This is the medium size from the Zip Pocket Pouches pattern. 

The floral fabric is a print called Flower Fields from Joel Dewberry's Modern Meadow collection (oop).  The other fabrics are an organic chambray apparel fabric and one of the dots from Moda's Dottie collection.

I used tiny 10mm magnetic snaps for this one because the last one where I used magnetic snaps reminded me why this pattern doesn't have them---they are tight fit! I thought using smaller snaps would help, and it did, but not much.

Where the flaps meet means the snaps need to be attached fairly close to the edge and it doesn't leave a lot of room to topstitch past the snaps.  I did manage it by using the zipper foot, but there were some it ended up working out. 

I also wanted to show you a bit of sewing improv that can make it faster to sew these pouches. 

1. Cut a piece of interfacing slightly larger than each pattern piece outline.

2. Fuse the interfacing to a fabric pieces with one straight edge for where the zipper will be attached.  If you've been doing lots of patchwork you might be able to free hand cut the straight edge.  Most of the time I can cut a short straight edge without assistance and it's from all the practice I get making patchwork. 

3. Attach the pieces to the zipper in the order shown in the pattern instructions, and then trace the pouch outline and cut it out.
