Here is another zipper coin purse I finished yesterday.
This one features Chez Moi's Nosegay print and Kei Honeycomb Dots on one side. The lace is this lingerie elastic. The other side is the Nosegay print.
I used template #5 from this document for this cute little zip top bag.
The lining is a blue pin dot on one side and the other side is the same pink dots used on the exterior:

I'm in the mood to make a few zipper pouches. I started this one yesterday and finished it up this morning.
It was made using the #6 zipper pouch template. This size is great for pens.
The floral fabric is a print from Amy Butler called Wind Flowers. The tiny green trim is lingerie elastic. The blue fabric is a chambray shirting fabric (the other side is also this fabric)
It's lined in Railroad Denim from Robert Kaufman:

A new bag for me!
My previous Messenger Bag was starting to look a little worn out, so I cut off the hardware and reused the cinch buckle and slide/rectangle ring. The hardware still looked brand new, but the fabric had seen better days.
The fabric I used for this is an organic chambray from Fabric Depot. I bought this in the store and I don't see it available on their site. This fabric is heavier and more coarse than the chambray shirting fabric I've had in the past. It would be scratchy for clothing, but is perfect for a bag!
This bag was made using Size 2 from the extra pattern pieces for the Messenger Bag pattern.
I should make more of these bags. They really don't take very long to sew once the cutting prep work is done. I did drag my feet over cutting out the long strap pieces (had to make space on my cutting table for the fabric!), but it probably took less than 3-hours to make this bag.
Next I'm going to make another of the smallest size--size 3--like this one.

Here is another Fold-Over Clutch in the large size. The fabric I used for this one is one of the cotton/linen blends from Moda's Avant Garden collection.
Even if clutches aren't your thing, this bag can also be used as a big pouch. Here is the large one with an iPad inside:

This zip top bag is foundation pieced to flannel on the exterior and quilting cotton scrap fabric on the lining, so it can fold easily and still have body. It's also kind of a refreshing change to sew a bag this way! It's very easy and fast, and instead of needing to cut a bunch of small interfacing/fleece pieces, you just cut a couple larger pieces of fabric and get to work.
Since it has a few pieces, it also has great patchwork potential:
If you want to use this bag for a tall pouch, and don't need it to fold, you can use interfacing and fleece on the pieces.
The bag has two pockets that are held closed with small tabs with magnetic snaps. This is the first time I've used this detail and it's pretty great. It is secure, the tiny tabs are not hard to sew, and you can use them as design details by making them in interesting fabrics.
