Today I Made - Kitty Grocery Bag

I'm finishing up some cut out and half sewn projects today and here is one of them!   Some of these are from months and months ago, so it feels extra nice to get them done.

This is the medium size from the Grocery Bag pattern.  The fabric is a cotton/linen from Japanese fabric maker Yuwa.  It was from 2 or 3 years ago and I think the collection was called Live Life. 

The inside is lined in the same blue pin dot fabric as the handles:

Inside is a carton of juice, box of pasta, bag of coffee, carton of cream, big tub of yogurt, and some cream cheese with chives (yum!).  There is room left over for a few more smaller items.

Tiny Origami Fabric Butterfly

This is the smallest butterfly I've made so far and it measures about 2.5" at the widest point x 1.5" high (6cm x 4cm).  

The fabrics are a chambray shirting fabric and a cotton print from Amy Butler.  It is fabric only--no interfacing. 

It wasn't hard to make this size and if you want to make your own the fabric pieces for this one are 3" wide x 4" high (8cm x 10cm) and the blog post about making these butterflies can be found here. 

The finished butterfly is being used to embellish this zipper pouch.  The pouch was made using the no. 5 template in this document of pattern pieces (no sewing instructions).

Today I Made - Pocket Clutch

Small Bow at 75%

Wow, look at this cute little thing!  This is the small bow at 75% of its original size.  It was surprisingly easy to make at this size. 

At 75% it turns out to be about 3.75" wide x 2.5" (9.5 x 6cm)--these are at the widest/highest points.

I did interface one side of the A & B pieces, which made the sewing easier.  But it made the middle more stiff, which gave me a bit of grief with the center C piece. 

My first attempt at the center I had to cut off it and throw out.  It was too wrinkled and no amount of fiddling around with it seemed to help. 

On the second try I made the center piece 2.75" high x 1.5" wide (7 x 4cm) and sewed the seam at just 1/8".  Then it was much easier to work with, but it was also too loose. 

So I took up the slack by pinching the fabric together around the elastic and then stitching it into a casing:

Well, let me know if you go even smaller!  For those of you with good sewing skills, I think it's possible.
 

Sample Sale - Phone Pouch (Sold)

This was originally wider (like this one), but I accidentally snipped the fabric on one side.  Being way too far in to give up, the solution was to take some off the sides.  Now it's perfect for a phone pouch.

The exterior is this cotton/linen fabric and the back/flap piece is a print from Joel Dewberry's Bungalow line. 

It is lightly padded.  The lining pieces have been quilted with Quilters Dream "Request" batting and a piece of scrap fabric. 

The pouch closes with a hidden magnetic snap.  The hidden magnets are just so very, very cool.  You can find them on etsy in the supplies category. 

The lining is a raspberry pink polka dot with a bit of patchwork:
