This is what I made using the patchwork piece from yesterday and these pattern pieces.
I'm experimenting to figure out the combination of fabrics that works best for me when using patchwork to make accessories. Along the way, I've also become quite fond of foundation piecing (i.e. same technique in the Coasters pattern), and see lots of new possibilities for using it to make accessories.
The foundation of this patchwork piece is Quilters Dream "Request" batting--which is very light cotton batting--and a layer of quilting cotton scrap fabric.
This particular combination worked really well and didn't get too thick/stiff for the flap to easily fold closed. The weight and feel of this seems pretty perfect to me.
