Sample Sale - Pink Patchwork Pouch (Sold)

Here is another small zip pouch. Sold - Thanks!  This one turned out really cute.  I didn't give the zip ends enough breathing room, so the zipper is more cramped than I like. 

It's still fully functional and you probably wouldn't have noticed had I not mentioned it.  Just as a reminder, if you are selling your handmade products don't feel like you need to pick them apart and share every little thing stitch you wished you had sew better (we can be pretty ruthless with the self-criticism!).  Sometimes sharing all these minor flaws makes me feel like I'm being insanely picky, but what I'm trying to do is share my experiences so other people can hopefully learn from my mistakes. 

Back to this small pouch...at 4.25" x 4.25" it not very big, but will make an adorable coin purse.  I just winged it with this one, so there are no pattern pieces.

Sample Sale - Patchwork Pouch (Sold)

Things are stacking up around here, and I have two pouches where I made some minor mistakes, so there will be samples today.

The first is a small patchwork pouch (Sold - Thanks!) and it was so much fun to make!  All I need is some time and I will be making more patchwork pouches.

A few prints were repeated, but overall each side is different.

For this pouch I used piece A for the small size in the Zip Pouches pattern. 

This turned out really well, but I got distracted and forgot to topstitch one side of the lining. It doesn't affect the zipper though, so all is well.  

The lining is red polka dots.

New Things - More Patchwork + Buttons

Here are a few things I've made in the last few days:

A small coaster. 

This one is 4.5". This one isn't for sale, but I'll have more big ones soon and those will be available in my etsy shop.

New buttons.

These are 1.25" buttons with a shank back.  This print is called Child's Smile from Lecien.

These are made from the same print in a different colorway. I think there is one more colorway...might have to go back to the fabric store today.

These rose print buttons turned out lovely.  These in the picture are also 1.25" buttons, but 1" buttons in this same print are available too.

Here are some 7/8" "mushroom top" buttons in the Lecien print.  I'm very fond of these round dome buttons!

And finally, here is a very sweet patchwork zip pouch.  There isn't a pattern for this specific pouch, but I might write a pattern for patchwork pouches. 

The patchwork technique is the same as the coasters, but making them into zip top pouches adds some different challenges. After making two of these (along with the prerequiste mistakes) I have figured out a couple things that will make them easier to sew and turn out great.

Today I Made - Small Patchwork Zip Pouch

Here is a small zip pouch inspired by the coasters.  I'm still feeling into making patchwork.  It is making me happy to use up some scraps--even though it is really only a small amount that gets used. 

The body for this pouch is the small size found in this pattern.

Later today I'd like to make some more coasters, another of these pouches, go to the fabric store, sew a passport pouch for my mom, make some binding, etc.  Hahaha...that list is waaay more than I could ever get done in a day, so I'll be fine with getting to maybe one of those things.
