Whenever I get the chance to look back at some older blog posts, it's always a trip down memory lane. It's easy to get caught up in the moment, or thinking about "what's next???", and forget this blog is also a diary of my past sewing projects.
Surely, I've said this several times already, but it would be a good idea to do a weekly recap post. I think I've done a few, but it should be a weekly habit. It's now on my calendar.
So here is the recap of this week:
This little coin purse is very sweet. This uses a 2.5" flex frame. These smaller 2.5" wide frames just arrived this week, so this was my first time using this extra small size. More of the 3.5" frames will be here on Tuesday.
The fabric is "Little Red Riding Hood" by Tasha Noel for Riley Blake.
I made two swatch book covers. This pattern is still on sale, but it goes back to the regular price tomorrow morning. The fabrics are from one of Bonnie & Camille's collections for Moda.
Another awesome thing about having a swatch book is when you show it to people you can make mental notes of the fabrics that catch their eye. On Wednesday I went to lunch with my Dad and his wife. Before leaving for the restaurant I was showing her my swatch book. When she commented on one particular fabric I made a mental note for future reference. Now I know which one she really, really likes and can use it the next time I make her a gift!
Several of these were sewn. I don't know what to call them. This fantastic pink fabric is a stretch cotton apparel fabric. There isn't any info on the selvedge.
The small one is for cards and the bigger one could be used for a phone, small journal, or whatever you need to stash away. Here they are together for size reference:
I used hair canvas on the flap and it worked great for this project! It worked out so well I ordered a bolt of the hair canvas interfacing. It will arrive in about 6 weeks. Read more about hair canvas towards the bottom this past post.
This will be a pattern at some point. It might not happen until after I have hair canvas available. It turns out fine with regular interfacing, but it's better with the hair canvas.
That about covers my week of sewing. Did you finish some things this week? Feel free to drop a link to your picture in the comments.
Here are a few other things I should mention in case you need hardware soon:
The 2" slides & rectangle rings are almost sold out, and the hardware wholesaler doesn't have them in stock right now. Once these sets are gone, I'm not sure when they'll be available again.
The nickel plated 1.5" slide & rectangle ring sets will be back in stock on Tuesday.
