Oh look, it's a tiny version of this faux envelope clutch! Of course, I just had to try making it really small. This is a business/credit/debit card size.
It is very sweet this size and not hard to sew. I used my 1/4" foot with the guide and that worked out well for following the curves.
I was going to skip making the front piece a pocket, but thought I might as well give it a try. It is a very small pocket, but it's perfect for a stashing a few coins!
Some other stuff that is happening around here:
Tomorrow is Friday, so here is a little sneak peek at what's coming.
I will tell you it is a bag, but that is the only hint I have to share. Come back tomorrow and check it out!
At the beginning of the year, I made a whole set of grocery bags in Ann Kelle's corduroy, and they turned out fantastic!
They are so-so soft in this baby wale corduroy from the "Cool Cords" collection, and look awesome in this red print.
Here are a few other prints from the Cool Cords collection by Ann Kelle:
You can find these prints in shops that carry Robert Kaufman prints, or by searching online.
If you haven't tried a grocery bag in corduroy yet, I highly recommend you make one, two, or however many you need.
Corduroy is one of my favorite fabrics because it is like casual velvet. My mom had a green velvet dress I was a bit obsessed with when I was just a wee sewist in waiting. So velvet is firmly embedded as a big positive in my fabric psyche. Corduroy is made in a similar process to velvet, which is why it is so darn soft!
After sewing the bags, I mailed them to Ann Kelle so they could take pictures. As you probably know, I just do the best I can with the pictures, which generally means a product shot on a white background. It works for getting the idea across, but it is much more fun to see them in action! You can see more photos on the Ann Kelle blog.
Look for more corduroy creations soon! I have some fabric left and just need more time to sew...
