Look how cute this turned out! This is a paper pieced sewing machine made using this pattern from During Quiet Time.
It was my first time paper piecing and it took two tries to get it right. On the first one I missed a small piece and didn't notice until it was completely finished. Can you spot my mistake in the photo below?
Since I knew I was going to make it again, it seemed like a good time to experiment further. So I outlined it in black thread to add some contrast. I like it, but also don't know if I'll use black stitching to outline other things in the future. Maybe for just the right project.
I also finished a large Grocery Bag. For this one I used a linen/cotton for the exterior and lined it in Maude Asbury's print Crabtastic.
This one is going to get a funny reaction at the grocery store. It looks so serious on the outside, but on the inside there is a cute surprise!
Besides all the other good points of making your own Grocery Bags, my favorite part is how delighted the people at the grocery store are to see them. They are a great conversation piece.
