This holiday season I'll be offering a few sewing related gift items. Even though we all have good intentions of making our gifts, it doesn't always work out that way! So I plan to have a few quick and inexpensive items available for purchase.
So today the first gift item I arrived--"Fix Your Clothes" by Raleigh Briggs. I'm very excited about this little zine!
When I first spotted it, the charming cover sucked me in, but then I noticed the description mentioned it included instructions for waterproofing canvas!!! Last year, I tried (unsuccessfully) to waterproof canvas. My attempt didn't work out, but I still WANT to make it happen.
So I had to have this little book and thought some of you might also need a copy too. Now that it is here, I see there is a whole section about waterproofing various fabrics. :0]
There 41 pages of sewing related info inside. Some of the topics are:
- Supplies
- Basic Knots & Stitches
- Buttons (types and how to attach)
- Mending seams
- Patching holes
- Hemming
- Fixing Zippers
- Waterproofing (canvas, leather, natural fabrics & nylon)
This will be a nice gift for a sewing friend, the family member who is always asking you to mend their clothes, or really anyone who sews. Even for those with sewing experience, it will make a nice reference, and the waterproofing section is probably new info for a lot of people.
I'm not sure where I want to add these (etsy shop or michellepatterns.com), so for now let's just have them here on the blog. I only have a limited number, so this can just be for blog readers for now.
