I have something new for you to sew! You can order it here.
This is the project we'll be making at Sewing Summit. I put it on the back burner for a while so it would be fresh in my mind when class finally rolled around, and so no one would get impatient and make it before class. If you are in my class, try to resist! We'll be sewing it VERY soon.
If you aren't going to Sewing Summit you should definitely make this right now.
The original idea was for it to hold a notebook and some pens. Then I realized it would also hold an iPad. Technically, I can't call it an iPad Pouch because I don't want Apple to come after me for copyright infringement. I also avoided calling it an iDea pouch for the same reason. So the name is really just because you can put your notebook with all your ideas inside the pouch.
The closure is one I haven't used before. I call it the "interoffice memo" closure. If you've ever worked for a company with multiple office locations you might recognize this type of closure from the envelopes sent back and forth between locations. It is a good way to show off buttons and allows the pouch to expand a lot more than other closures that are fixed in place. You can of course use VELCRO, a button with elastic, magnetic snaps, regular snaps, or whatever type closure you please.
If you just want to use it for a tablet, you can leave off the front pleated pouch if you like. Do what you will with the pattern and modify it in any way you please!
