New Pattern - Two Zip Hipster from Erin Erikson

It has been a while since I've sewn something with a zipper and this bag has two! There is a zip pocket on the front and a neat zip top that opens REALLY wide. Zippers are satisfying to sew and add such nice functionality to bags, so it felt great to make this practical--and cute--bag.
I really like this bag because it is a great size. I walk around a lot and generally prefer cross-body style bags that are a decent size, but not so big they give me a knot between my shoulder blades! This bag is just the right size and the strap is a comfortable width.
The clean, classic style makes this bag work for both women or men. It would also make a nice school bag for the kids.
Erin allows small scale production of these bags for sale. It takes a few hours to make the first one, but it will go a lot faster for subsequent bags. The style has really broad appeal and I think the finished bags will sell well.
Erin's instructions for the Two Zip Hipster are easy to follow and there are lots of clear photos. Even if you think you know what you are doing, make sure to read the instructions. I was pretty good about paying attention, but did make one mistake because I skimmed a step and didn't fully absorb the text. My strap ended up being off center on the sides of the bag, and I had to unpick the top seam and move the strap. And I was so close to being done! But of course, it is my own fault for not fully paying attention and it ended up not being a big deal.
Alright, are you ready to sew? Here is the pattern and I'll be looking for your finished bag in the flickr group!
