While working on the project for my Sewing Summit class, I discovered the pleats on the front pouch part work better if they are topstitched. It is easier to close the pleated part since it lays down neatly in place more easily.
So I'm experimenting with topstitching the pleats on the Pleated Pouches. Above is the small one from the pattern.
The topstitching makes the pleats less visible in the photographs, since there isn't as much shadow in the crease. It also doesn't open quite as wide, but still has plenty of room thanks to the folds. I can put my fist inside this little pouch without straining the fabric at all.
I have to experiment with one more thing and will try it on the large version of this pattern, and then I will report back to you with my findings!
