Flickr Group - Keychain Clutch

The Keyka Lou flickr group is gradually getting bigger, and there are some amazing things posted to the group!  It is fulfilling for me to see what everyone is making with the patterns.

I will be featuring some of the photos here, and have added an announcement to the group via the group rules.  So when new people join they will see the announcement.  If you are already a member, you might not have noticed the announcement.  If I share your photo here and you do not want me to show it off on my blog, just let me know and I will remove it.  

The photo above is one of the keychain clutches Amy Dunn has shared with the group.  This is really cute fabric and I love the button with the unique slat openings rather than round holes!

What a Week it Was

I'm glad this week is done.  For me, it was one of those times where just about everything that could go wrong, went wrong.  Nothing major happened, just a bunch of little things went amiss.  So I was distracted and busy putting out a few fires.   

So today I'm going to get back to sewing!  I've made some progress on the QAYG quilt and it is looking really good!  I'm excited to finish it up in the next few weeks. 

 

Some new hardware arrived (despite me giving the wrong address...), so look for that in my shop soon.  First I have to fix my photograpy lighting situation--another thing that went haywire this week. 

Right before the end of the year I bought a very basic studio lighting kit, which I quickly grew to love.  But the bulbs don't last long and have already burned out.  So I've made two trips downtown to find bulbs and instead of having working bulbs, I have a giant light bulb that doesn't fit in my light.  Camera World only had one bulb and assured me more were coming and this one would definitely fit in my light.  It doesn't. This was one of those things that seemed so easy to solve with a trip to a local store, but really I should have just ordered bulbs online.  

So hopefully I'll get the lighting thing all straightened out this week, and then I'm going to take photos to make the pattern for this:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Forever Moss Terrariums

I've been off on a terrarium tangent lately.  I've been trying to hunt down more of the hanging globes, but in smaller sizes, or some interesting jars with nice lids.

The great thing about the globes--besides looking super fabulous--is the glass is easy to see through.  They are made from borosilicate glass, which is the same glass as test tubes and beakers, so it is thin  and clear and also able to withstand temperature fluctations.  Which doesn't really matter with the terrariums, but it does make the globes useful as candle holders too!

The glass globe used with this one is 6" diameter.
