Tomorrow I'm loading all six couch cushions in the car and driving to my mom's house to reupholster them. Then next week (I hope) I'll borrow a friend's truck and take the frame to her house to reupholster the body.
Originally I planned to just sew the main body piece at her house and then bring it back home and staple/tack it back onto the frame. But then I remembered that sometimes once you get it apart the springs need to be fixed, or other things on the inside need work. So the whole thing needs to go to her house. Plus I just don't really know what I'm doing...thankfully, mom does!
The fabric above is what I'm using for this project. It is definitely going to be a statement piece! Here is what the couch currently looks like:
It is "tuxedo" style in just a loveseat size, which is perfect for me, since I'm a bit of a vagabond and tend to move around a lot. Any furniture I acquire is always sized up by how difficult it is to move.
I bought it at a vintage store called Lounge Lizard. The store is a little on the dark side and it looked like it was in better shape than it really turned out to be. Mostly it is just super dingy and faded. At the bottom you can see where I removed the skirt, so the fabric at the bottom is in pretty much the original condition.
I'm getting very excited to have a "new" couch!
