I am excited to see manufacturers and designers are releasing more collections in cotton lawn.
Just recently, Alexander Henry came out with Fulham Road, and now Timeless Treasures has a new cotton lawn collection called Darling Clementine.
Lawn is a great fabric choice for spring/summer clothes, cafe curtains, quilts, napkins & hankies, etc. I've used it to make a clutch before and just backed it with another cotton fabric in a similar color and it worked out very nicely.
Even though cotton lawn is light and sheer, it is actually pretty durable fabric. The tightly woven fibers give it some strength, despite the delicate appearance.
Perhaps the most exciting part of these new lawn collections is the price. I love the classic Liberty of London cotton lawns, but at $35 per yard, they are out of my price range for the most part. Both the Alexander Henry & Timeless Treasures collections are in the $12-$14 range per yard, making them a realistic option for more people.
