bloom and grow no. one archival print
...............................
Well, I took the plunge and signed a lease for a small work space! At first, I was dragging my feet, thinking: "Maybe in October...November sounds good...perhaps the first of the year would be best."
But I went ahead and did it, and will be moving in this Wednesday. I'm pretty excited to have a dedicated sewing space, but also a little nervous.
The Exciting Part:
I'm looking forward to having other people around. Recently I started to miss seeing other people during the day. At the beginning of the year I moved and it is just quieter here where I live now. Which is nice on one hand, but it has also started to feel isolating. So it will be great to have other people around to say hi to in the hall. It will be like having co-workers that don't actually work with me!
There is a nice mix of other businesses in the building--some creative & some service. A former neighbor, and current friend, is just down the hall. It will be good to be neighbors again.
It is going to be fabulous to actually be able to make my apartment into a home. For the last few years the focus has been on work and my place usually looks like a little factory. Even though I've wanted to decorate, it has often felt like a futile effort as the work mess crept further and further throughout my place.
The Nervous Part:
Of course, the extra expenses give me pause. Who needs more bills? But my new space is not large, or fancy, and the extra expense is not that much. I think it is going to be worth it for my sanity (I get tired of the sewing mess sometimes) and hopefully I will have more focus and be more productive.
The other thing I'm nervous about is the commute. One thing I really love about working from home is not having to drive to work. I really do NOT like driving in the city. The sensory overload of other cars, pedestrians, bikes, buses, squirrels, etc. all moving around is a bit much at times. I'm going to try to ride my bike sometimes and when I do drive, I'll go to work during non-rush hour times to avoid the worst of it.
In Conclusion
Thank YOU! Without you, dear customers, my life as I currently know it would not be possible. I appreciate each and every pattern purchase, blog visit and kind comment.
