Wide Width Fabrics

Springtime Posey cotton fabric

Jack Rabbit Fabric has wide width fabrics in some interesting prints.  Many of the prints are 121" wide, so they are great for quilting, shower curtains, sheets, and all those other projects were it would great to not have to piece fabric together to make the width you need.  

Some of the prints would also make sweet summer dresses.  Go check them out. 

Favorite Fabrics - Sandi Henderson Meadow Sweet

Ah, it is another lovely fall day that feels like spring here in Portland.  When I take the dog for a walk in the morning I expect it to be cold, but it really isn't.  The birds are happily singing and the trees that have finished dropping their leaves have already moved on to growing new buds.  This pretty fabric kind of sums it up for me--it reminds me of both fall and spring at the same time. 

Favorite Fabrics - Alexander Henry Canyon Flutter Upholstery Fabric

In the next few weeks I hope to start re-upholstering my small vintage tuxedo couch. 

This has been on my project list for more than two years now. It is kind of a big project because it is a definite stretch for my sewing experience and it also requires a small investment in fabric.  So it has been easy to put off project for either lack of time or money, and usually both.  But I'm tired of looking at the couch and the grungy original fabric, so it is time to get on with it! 

Step #1 was getting the staple remover tool and that is complete.  Now it is time to find fabric.  Tonight I came across this upholstery weight version of Alexander Henry's Canyon Flutter print.  I would love to cover it in this fabric!  It would be totally magical and a definite statement piece in this print. It is a small love seat sized couch and the simple lines would support a bold print. 

However, since the dog gets on this couch (it is actually her bed), a light colored background is a not a good idea.  So I'll continue looking, but I had to share a photo of this fabric in case someone else needs upholstery fabric.
